Musical Monday- Lead Me

This week's song is one I just heard for the first time on the radio yesterday. It's called Lead Me by Sanctus Real. It's from their newest album Pieces of a Real Heart. Here's a video clip of the story behind the song:

Although written from a husband/father's perspective, this song really hit home for me and is relatable to anyone with a spouse or children. It's about leading your family in the way God calls you to, really looking into their hearts to be the wife, husband, mother, father that they need. I know that I need God's help so much in this area, I know I fall short of what He wants me to be- what THEY need me to be. It's such an awesome blessing and responsibility to be a spouse or a parent. It's not something to take for granted, yet we all do. So many days, months, years pass by and we look back realizing that we've wasted so much time on things that don't matter. Everything looks great on the outside, but what does the heart of our family look like? Have we nurtured or neglected those relationships, emotionally and spiritually?

I love at the end of the song where it says we can't do it alone, because it's so true. We weren't meant to. We need God's strength and guidance to help us be what we need to be for our families. More and more I find myself just crying out to Him for help. It is very humbling to admit you just can't do it yourself anymore. But when you get to that place of total dependence on Him, that's when God can really work in your life. That's when you can make real changes in your family and in the hearts of those you love.

  4. You are so very right. I heard this song for the first time over the summer in the middle of the night while driving halfway across the country. I cried my eyes out (as I did just now) listening to it. It's very powerful and God-inspired. We all are just made of flesh, and how desperately we need Him to do anything. So thankful He gives such grace.
