Shopping!!

I have had some very successful days of shopping and just had to share all my "deals"!

On Sunday, I went to Dollar Tree. I saw in other blogs that people got some really neat stuff in their teacher section so I had to check it out! I got a few things, but I need to go back because the kids were kinda acting up and we couldn't stay as long as I had hoped (you can never have enough time at the dollar store!). (: We also went to Office Depot. They had packs of 6 notebooks for 50 cents!! Of course we had to get four packs. :P Anyway, this is what I got:
Notebooks- We got two packs of wide ruled for the kids and two packs of college ruled for us (Chris uses them too)
State Facts spinner
Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives and Adverbs cards- I plan on using these to play games to learn parts of speech and also for story starters. Each pack has 30-40 words in it.

Yesterday, I went to a sale that a retired teacher was having. She had so much stuff- kid's books, teacher books, posters, games, etc. There were at least 20 cars already there when I arrived at 9:10! Since she had been a K-1 teacher, there was not a ton I needed (although alot that I liked) but I did pick up these things:
Food Models- this was my favorite find of the day! It has over 200 punch out pictures of LIFE SIZE food that is the actual serving size. On the back it has the nutrition facts label of that food. I can't wait to use this in our nutrition unit. I am going to have the kids make up their own menus and figure out which is healthiest. They also will work in a pocket chart for sorting into food groups. So many uses!! The best part was that it was brand new in the wrapper and only 50 cents!!
Guided Reading the Four Blocks Way- $2.50
Summer Bridge Activities Gr. 1-2- brand new- $1.00
Safety Thematic Unit- .50
Community Workers Thematic Unit- .50
6 workbook type books- nothing written in- .50 each
I also got these little sets of Legos to make helicopters- New- .50

Here's another pic of the Food Models. I am going to have fun punching all these out! LOL!
Then today I went to a garage sale that my homeschooling group sent out an email about (they had sent one about the teacher's sale too). They had lots of clothes and homeschooling books. I was reluctant to go because it was 30 minutes away, but my hubby was so sweet to go with me and the kids so we went for it. I am glad we did! They had all kinds of Abeka and BJU stuff as well as alot of other books and resources. I have alot of what I need for this year but they had a few books that I didn't have or only had half a workbook of. All the workbooks were either complete or just missing a few pages. I also got some stuff for later on but at the prices, I couldn't pass it up. Here's what I got:
Vocabulary Activities- ideas and reproducibles for vocabulary practice. I like this because you can use them with any vocabulary words. $2.00
Holidays Family Nights Tool Chest- devotions/minilessons for 7 holidays $2.00
Presidents and States workbook- only missing a couple pages- $1.00
Character Building for Families- lessons for teaching character traits. I saw this at the homeschooling conference I went to but didn't get it because it was too expensive. This is a lucky find because it's not sold in stores. $5.00
Math Ad Libs- like Madlibs (have to think of a noun, adjective, etc) but then the story you create is a multiplication or division problem you have to solve. Very cool. $3.00
Abeka 5 Language- Teacher edition, tests (complete) and test key- $5.00
Abeka 4 Language workbook- $3.00 (this is only missing a few pages and new costs about $15)
Abeka 5 Science Tests (complete)- $1.00
Abeka 1 Letters and Sounds- tests (complete) and test key- $3.00
Abeka 2 Language Teacher Key- $2.00
Abeka 3 Cursive Writing Skillbook- $2.00
Abeka 3 Spelling and Poetry- $2.00
Abeka 3 Language workbook- $2.00

It was so much fun getting this stuff! Now I just have to find a place to put it! My office is a complete mess! I need to get it cleaned up because I plan on giving a "tour" post of our school areas soon!
