Use the Force, Zach!

My 7 year old son, Zachary, is really into Star Wars. He loves the movies, books, Legos, and toys that are all about Star Wars. His favorite thing to do is go outside and play with his lightsabers and "fight" with me or Katelyn. He spends hours creating ships and things with his Legos that are from the movies or of his own imagination. It is pretty much the only thing he likes to do right now. It is not unusual for him to be so focused on one thing. He has had many and varied interests over the years but whatever he gets into, he GETS INTO! I mean, it is sometimes a years long interest, the longest being his Wiggles obsession which lasted almost 3 years. Then he was into letters and numbers and learned to read by age 4 just by playing with magnetic letters, all day every day it seemed. He is such a curious and passionate kid about his interests and it is fun to see him get so excited about stuff. Not that we haven't had our thoughts of, "okay, THIS phase can be over now", but it is who he is and we love his uniqueness.

Anyway, I wanted to write about something sweet Chris did for Zach today. This past week, we've had a cold/flu go through the family and the last couple days, Zach hasn't been feeling that great. He wasn't cranky or really acting that much different but you could just tell he wasn't himself. Well, this morning, Chris surprised him with a get well card and used a Star Wars theme. It had a special message inside and was really cute. Zach thought it was really cool. Here is the card and the message inside:

Isn't he the best Daddy? I love it when he does these kinds of things for the kids. I know it means alot to them and they love something special just from him. I just had to brag about what a great dad my kids have. (:

On a funny note, we went to a garage sale today and what did we find but a Darth Vader costume! Zach has been wearing it all day, mask and all. Katelyn had to try it on too and then she decided to make her own mask. I think originally it was supposed to be a clone trooper mask but I don't think it ended up being that-considering she added the princess crown and all! LOL. It totally cracked me up.
