I didn't go garage saling (saleing? Never know how to spell it) this past week but here's a few items I got the previous week, or the week before that I forgot to mention. The last time we went out we hit a few duds and didn't get much. I also spent time and gas finding a sub sale that was a bust as well. Very frustrating.
Later that day I was on my way to my parents' house to visit like we do every Thursday. I happened to go a different way and passed a subdivision that has a great sale every year. Lo and behold they were having it that day! At first I was bummed because I didn't know about it beforehand or I would have been there at 9am {smile} but we were there at noon and managed to still find a few good deals!
First thing we found were these- twin size Cars sheets! Luke is totally into Cars and was really excited about these! He's still in the crib but we are transitioning to a "big boy" bed soon. It was $2.00 for the whole pile and when I got home I realized there were two compete sets- 2 fitted and 2 top sheets and 2 pillowcases. There were no stains and hardly even faded. We put one of the pillowcases on his pillow and he uses one of the top sheets for naptime and he loves it!

At the same sale, actually all at one house, we got these things:
Melissa and Doug abacus- $2.00- I've been wanting one for a while so I was excited to find it!
Imaginext talking/walking dinosaur- $1.00- Zach bought this with his own money
Bunch of die-cast and shake and go cars and trucks- $4.00 for huge bag. There were more than these, but I gave some to my mom to keep at her house.
Beads to make necklaces and bracelets- $1.00- Katelyn actually just loves to play with beads of all sizes and shapes. She doesn't usually make things with them, she just plays with them and collects them. She bought these with her own money. (:
2 puzzles-.25 cents each- just the day before, Katelyn wanted to buy one of these at the store (like $3-4) and I suggested she wait to get it at a garage sale. She did and got two for a fraction of the price of one!
2 Unit study books for homeschool- .50 cents each- Insects and Bugs and Our Earth

Then the big find was this
Zhu Zhu pets set. My kids have never gotten into them before but when Zach saw this, he really wanted it. We've been talking about getting a hamster and this is the next best thing! LOL! It had all the tunnels, slides and houses and even a ball for them to "play" in. It came with 6 pets too. All of it was $20. At home I checked on Amazon and it added up to $138! Score!

Last but not least, here is an item we got two weeks ago, actually at my own subdivision when we were having our annual sale. We had been thinking of getting Luke a train table for his birthday (he turned 3 last week) but they can get expensive and hard to find cheap even at garage sales/Craigslist. Plus we just weren't sure about all the pieces and track it takes to build it, etc. So when I found
this table, I thought it would be perfect! Luke was with me at the sale and saw it before I did. He ran right to it and fell in love. It is by Step 2 (so it's nice, durable plastic) and all contained so there are no loose pieces except for the trains. It came with wooden trains as well as several Thomas the trains so I knew his would work with it. It was a good size and not like those huge tables that take up half the child's room! I didn't debate long and paid the $30 they were asking. I thought it was a good deal. Luke loved his early birthday present and it fits great in his room! Yay!

My motto this year is to wait to find it at a garage sale. You never know what you are going to find, you just have to keep looking! It is worth the wait! (:
I'm linking up to Garage Sale Treasures at
My Life on a Taffy Pull. Check it out!
Great finds Leslie! The train table is perfect! I agree with your motto! I'm already regretting buying a few things new this year because I could have found them at a garage sale. Sometimes it's hard to be patient, but your right, it's well worth it! Thanks for linking up! Blessing to you!
ReplyDeleteGreat motto! Certainly saves some money!!! What a great train table! I thought it was going to be a sand table, but a train table is too cool!! Have fun with the Zhu Zhu pets. We have a few and my kids love them. Just store them somewhere that they will not wake you up at night! Fun finds!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, ladies! Yes, if you can wait, it is definitely worth it to look for it at a garage sale! Oh, and I know what you mean about the Zhu Zhu pets. The lady that sold them to us, told us that AFTER we bought them. Now I know why she sold them so cheap! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteGreat find on the sheet sets! Can't believe there were two complete sets for only $2! We have one of those little dinosaurs...my kids love it. They push the button and run away screaming like it's chasing them. lol We found our train table for a great price at a garage sale too. I love sales and wish that they would go on all year round (although my husband thinks much differently lol).
