A birthday weekend!

This weekend was super busy starting off with a big event- Katelyn's 6th birthday! She had been counting down the days for months and now it was finally here! She was so excited. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to do much celebrating that day since Chris and I had to go to a wedding that afternoon. So on Friday night, we went out for her birthday dinner. She chose Applebees and got her birthday dessert (strawberry cheesecake shooter). On Saturday morning she got to open her presents and have cake, all before 9 am! (: Then it was off to ballet lessons! After ballet, we had to get ready to go to the wedding. The kids were staying with my parents and then spending the night. Katelyn was very excited about that! As soon as we got there, she got even more presents! Then Chris and I were off to the wedding. He was a groomsman so we had to be there early. It was a nice wedding and reception. It was fun to relax and get to chat with some old and new friends. Chris and I even danced a little (kinda scary since we are pretty rusty with the dancing skills), but I even did the hustle and then we slowed danced to our favorite song. Awwww.... (:

On Sunday, we got to sleep in a little (10 am!) and then relaxed at home until it was time to pick up the kids. It was very snowy and slushy out so we spent the rest of the day at home. This weather is crazy! I am starting to feel like it's never going to warm up! Oh well, at least the snow didn't stay around long but it's still pretty cold out. Last year at this time it was 70-80 degrees!

Yesterday, the kids and I had homeschool co-op. We only have one more meeting time before the end of the semester. It was fun but I am ready to be done with "activities" for the summer. Zach finished basketball last month and Katelyn will be done with ballet next month so hopefully then things will be less hectic around here.

So today I am playing catch up, trying to get my house back in order. I've been doing laundry and picking up. I am also doing flylady again and this week is the kitchen. I did the dishes and picked up this morning and I am going to try to get a few more things done this week in that room: clear off and clean all counters and appliances, wash cupboards in and out, clean out the fridge and organize the shelves. We will see. They are things I've needed to do for a while so hopefully I can get it done!
