Today I had a change in plans. I had decided to take the kids to the library this morning and after gathering up all the books, diaper bag, purse, etc and loading into the van, we were on our way. We could only be gone a short time because Luke had to be back for a nap but I wanted to go now so I could do other things in the afternoon. Well, about halfway there, I realized I didn't have my library card! Because I was already 15 minutes out, I wouldn't have enough time to go back to get it and still go to the library this morning. So home we went. Now we will have to wait until after the kids' afternoon naps because by the time Luke gets up from this nap, Katelyn will be going down for hers. So our trip is postponed until later this afternoon.
I am not one who likes change, especially unexpected change. It makes me anxious and worried and my mind races 90 miles an hour, trying to adjust to the change in plans. Our library plans change wasn't a big deal but I sometimes easily get frustrated with the simplest changes. I am learning to let it go and go with the flow but it is still hard. It's hard to have a way set in your mind (because of course I've already gone through the 100 scenarios in my mind of "the best way to do this") and then have it change out of your control. I also hate waiting so if I can't do it when I want to, that is frustrating too. Thankfully, being a mother has forced me to be more flexible and patient. Life with kids is unpredictable and ever changing, so I am learning to just roll with the punches. Along the way, I realize that its not so bad when things change, it keeps life interesting, right?! Most of the time, the new plan is just as good as the old plan and sometimes even better!
Verse of the Day: Isaiah 55:8-9: "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts".
Remember, God is in control and knows your life from start to finish. He is interested and involved in even the seemingly unimportant details of your life. He is watching over you and has only the best for you in mind!
