The angels are rejoicing!
Today Heaven is celebrating because my two oldest children, Zachary and Katelyn, asked Jesus into their hearts this morning! We were having our usual Bible time and got to talking about Easter and what it means. That led into a discussion about why Jesus died on the cross for us and some talk about Heaven. They already knew alot about becoming a Christian but have never officially prayed or asked Jesus to be their savior. They have already told me they believe in God and love Him, and they understand we are sinners and that is why Jesus had to die for us, so we could go to heaven to be with Him. So while we were talking, I just felt led to ask them if they wanted to pray and thank Jesus for dying for us and to ask him to be their savior. They both said yes, so they repeated a little prayer I said with them and then we all hugged. It was very sweet and I think they were a little surprised at what a big deal I made out of it. I was so happy, that I had tears in my eyes, and they just gave me these cute little smiles. I told them that the angels were having a party in Heaven because they were so happy that they had become Christians. They thought that was really cool. (: Chris was out running errands but I asked the kids if they wanted to call him and tell him about it. He was very happy to hear the news. I've told him what the kids have been asking me and saying about the things of the Lord and I think the timing was perfect for this to happen. I know they are young, but I really feel they understand (as much as 4 and 6 years olds can) the decision they made. Afterwards, we talked more about what it means to be a Christian and what kind of things we should be doing, like going to church, praying, reading the Bible and telling other people about God. It is all in very simple terms right now but they are so curious and interested in everything they are learning about God. I am just so excited about this first step they've made and now more than ever, I feel the responsibility to be a good example to them. I want to "train them up in the way they should go", and I am going to start praying even harder for their relationship with the Lord to deepen. You are never too young (or too old) to know and feel God's love in your life. I know He touched my children's hearts today and I am forever thankful.
